Live Without Eczema - The Patient Handbooks
The Combined Approach to atopic eczema is an educational approach. In order to maximise the effectiveness of the approach, each clinic visit has supporting and reinforcing written material to be both considered by the patient and practitioner together in the clinic, and then to be taken home by the patient for continuing reference. The handbooks are not only sources of information and advice, but also workbooks: they are used by the patient to record their "homework" to complete before the next clinic visit, and to list their own "behavioural prescription" for habit reversal. Each handbook therefore gradually becomes a customised handbook to meet the needs of each patient. Use of an earlier version of the handbook for adults is shown in the video Live Without Eczema. The parts of the handbook follow the stages of the programme, and are handed out at the appropriate clinic visit, rather than all at once at the beginning of the programme.
The handbooks are in the manual Atopic Skin Disease - A Manual Practitioners at pages 117-154.
